US title
The Jaguar XK 140 was presented on October
15th, 1954. The successor to the XK 120,
this new Jaguar resembles it… at first glance!
And the rack and pinion steering replacing the
old housing system makes the ride smooth,
light and much more accurate.
Then the driving position takes advantage of
the new engine location ( 8cm more in front )
and the battery ( now in the front wing ) and
the two universal joints placed between the
flywheel and the new rack. Finally the more
enveloping and more imposing bumper subtly
alters the design, also successful.
Mechanically this new Jaguar XK 140 re-
ceives from the beginning the 190 HP engine
which was equipping the XK 120 "Special
Equipment", and for the sport range the cy-
linder head "Type-C" pushes the engine to
210 HP. Unlike the XK 120, Jaguar releases
the 3 models: roadster, cabriolet and coupé at
the same time.
Our model presented in the sale is a left-hand
drive delivered new in the United States. It is
found in a “ barn find” state which will either
be the starting point of a project of resurrec-
tion/restoration, or, to keep a moving testi-
mony of what any lover might dream of
finding in a workshop lost in the high niçoise
country…
