And that is what it was, taking advantage of the addition of the filiation with the DB4 GT, super-
lative model of the DB4, whose DB5 resumed the headlights under glass. But even with the best
omens, it sometimes takes a little bit of magic to go from success to mythology… and nothing better
than having another legend to assist: James Bond rides in the DB5, even if it is actually a DB2 that
is used in the Ian Fleming’s novel!
The DB5 was not just a success on the big screen or glossy paper: 1,023 examples will be produced
between 1963 and 1965. Our copy is one of the most desirable of this series since it is one of the
very rare with the specification Vantage (only 65, less than the DB4 GT )recognisable with a set of
three Weber carburettors horizontal DCOE in place of SU which, coupled with the specific camshafts,
allows you to issue a power of 315HP instead of the 282 of the standard version, with a character
even more tempered and an appetite strengthened for high regimes .
The documentation proving that the engine and its configuration are consistent with the output of the
factory are available in the very complete folder that accompanies the vehicle. Keep for nearly thirty
years by the same owner, this DB5 presents the unprecedented combination of the rarity of the up-
graded Vantage, a clear history, a mechanical restored without compromise and a superb patina- and
inimitable - of its passenger compartment.
