Originally produced in the coupe and then in cabriolet, it is in 1954
that the Speedster Porsche 356 appears. Behind this model, legend
finds it with U.S. distributor Max Hoffman ( already at the origin
of many exotic adaptations of European models, such as the Mer-
cedes 300 Ll ) The latter suggests to the House of Porsche a variant
of the model: lighter, more fast and above all less expensive than its
British competitors. The car boasts a lower windscreen , bucket seats
and a much lighter convertible top frame. Produced at 200 exemples
(our vehicule is number 74), the model encounters great success on
the American market, mainly in California. Much more streamlined,
but adopting a more sporting style, Porsche will start a new production
in 1955 .

La restauration, effectuée dans les règles de l’art,
a nécessité deux ans de travaux. L’intérieur fut
réalisé par les ateliers Ferraresi, et chaque élé-
ment important de la voiture fut préservé : ses
coffres, ses portes, son châssis et sa capote sont
originaux, chacun marqué comme en 1954 lors
de la fabrication.
