German title
The marketing of the 308 GT4 began in 1973.
The production ceased in 1980 after the production
of 2,826 copies and the car was replaced by the
Mondial 8. The 308 GT4 was marketed under
the name of Dino 308 GT4 up until May 1976,
in order to differentiate itself form the range of the
“traditional" Ferrari V12 ; after, the GT4 was
integrated into the Ferrari catalogue.
The 308 GT4 marks a small revolution in Fer-
rari’s history for several reasons. First of all, it
was the first car of the mark equipped with the
V8 in rear central position, which was shortly after
the bulk of the sales of the firm.
The 308 GT4 is then the only (and unique) Fer-
rari series designed by Bertone .
The Dino 308 GT4 was presented at the auto
show in Paris in November 1973 and marked a
stylistic rupture with the Ferrari range of the time
in adopting the jagged lines characteristics of the
wedge design. The design of the car led to contro-
versy at the time, some journalists comparing it to
its indirect rivals drawn by Bertone, the Lancia
Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco.
Our model shown is in an attractive two-tone co-
lour scheme of exterior gray / black (recalling the
contemporary Berlinetta Boxer ) and blue leather
interior presented in a good condition of operation
and presentation.
