The Citroen SM is one of the last French cars of Grand Tourism (GT) heiress of the
achievements "haute-couture" of before the war. This work of art of Citroen is the culmi-
nation of a trend which began with the Traction, continued with the DS, and completed
thanks to the use of Maserati mechanical systems, following the takeover of the Italian
Officine by Citroën.
The SM was the star of the Salon de Paris in 1970.
Citroen had understood: it lacked in France a descendant to Delage, Delahaye and other
Facel Vega that the wealthy clientele was entitled to expect.
The engine was known historically as the weak point in the high range Citroën. This time,
there was the mechanical system of the Maserati subsidiary, recently acquired, a jewel in
terms of an engine, and benefiting from an impressive image thanks to a record of dazzling
racing. Maserati had put specifically a V6 engine 2.7 L for the SM, which will also equip
the Merak and the Ligier JS2.
The Citroen SM had been designed in less than 2 years while it was and will remain a real
technological showcase.
Our model of color is Blue of France with Fauve leather interior and is equipped with original
air conditioning and totals today 115,000 kms. It has remained more than 20 years in the
same collection.
